Saint Mary Cathedral on Galveston Island is a must see. Galveston Island is located just off the coast of Texas and has some of the most beautiful and oldest churches in the state. This is an outside street level view of the church which resides in the historical district of downtown Galveston. The architecture is rather wondrous with it's stone construction and elegant steeples. The Cathedral Basilica was badly damaged during Hurricane Ike in 2008 but was restored after six long years of reconstruction. This is one of the building that also survived the Great Storm of 1900 in which 8000 people lost their lives.
