Galveston island holds lots of charm, especially in the form of architecture. Some homes date back to the late 1800's and have the character to reflect the period they were built in. This piece shows such a home and in the backdrop a modern sky scraper, and as a matter of fact the only sky scraper on the island. Here we have real island charm in the architecture and the setting with it's palms and dated street lamp. I've used large brush strokes especially in the sky where the bristle brush strokes are reminiscent of the constant wind on the island.
