Description
It was a trip to Venice which brought me to this glorious vision. I was in a small boat traveling the waterway to another location when we passed the Church of San Giogio Maggiore. Quickly I had to take a series of photos, then pick the best out of the bunch to create this piece of art. San Giorgio Maggiore is a 16th-century Benedictine church on an island in Venice, in northern Italy designed by Andrea Palladio, and built between 1566 and 1610. The church is a basilica in the classical renaissance style and its brilliant white marble gleams above the blue water of the lagoon opposite the Piazzetta and forms the focal point of the view from every part of the Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront. Stark colors punctuate the architecture with bristle brush strokes mainly addressing the blue sky.
